11. Jamie Roberts

Born in Newport in 1986 and having qualified as a doctor in 2013, Jamie has been part of the club since 2005 and needs little introduction. He has just finished playing in his last season for Cardiff Blues before making the move to Racing Metro 92. His honours include 53 caps for Wales, alongside caps for the Barbarians and British & Irish Lions, for whom he was named ‘Man of the Series’ in their 2009 tour of South Africa. He was selected for the 2013 British and Irish Lions tour to Australia.

“I feel a huge amount of pride in being associated with the medics rugby team. Despite having not been able to wear the coveted jersey due to my professional playing commitments, I feel it is one of my clubs as such; a very proud club stooped in tradition and history. One glance at the names who’ve worn the shirt in the past confirms this; Dr Jack, Gwyn Jones, Richard Parks, Mathew Wintle … the list goes on … Not only exceptional players in their day, but special people who are part of a very special group of people, The Cardiff Medics RFC. Maybe one day, after my professional career is over, I’ll get to join the list of Players who’ve represented the club so well.”
